Isaac Craddock
Apprentice records - 1780
Isaac Craddock was born in Market Drayton in Shropshire in about 1750. On the 30th August 1772 he married Sarah Platt and they had eight children. They were married by banns read on the 9th 16th & 23rd August. Isaac did not sign the register though his new wife Sarah did.
Those children were:
Eleanor (sometimes spelt Elienor) who was born on 24th Jan 1773.
Mary - baptised 16th Dec 1773
John - baptised 2nd Feb 1777
Thomas - baptised 19th June 1778
Sarah - baptised 1st Jan 1781
Anne - baptised 27th April 1783
Elizabeth - 1783
Samuel - baptised 1785.
All the children were born in Market Drayton (known as Drayton Hales at the time of their births)
Apprentices: On the 8th January 1780, Isaac is listed on the Register of Duties Paid for Apprentices Indentures. His apprentice was Edward Ratcliffe. On the 31 March 1781, Isaac is listed again, this time his apprentice is Robert Roden.
Isaac was a respected member of the community of Market Drayton, and is listed as one of the principal residents of Market Drayton.
After this date there are no records found for Isaac in Market Drayton, until his death in 1836. He died in Drayton Union Poor House and was buried on the 30th November 1836. What happened to Isaac, who once was a Master of Apprentices and listed as a principal resident of the town, to pass away in the Union Poor House?
Isaac Craddock is my 5 x Great Grandfather, and at the moment this is all I know about him.

Sarah Platt (1745 - 1831)
Sarah was the wife of Isaac Craddock, and so is my 5 x Great Grandmother. I know very little about Sarah, and have only two documents which relate to her. One is the marriage entry giving details of her marriage to Isaac in 1772, and the second is her name in the burial records for Market Drayton. Sarah died in 1831 and was buried on the 5th January that year. She was 88 years of age. No address is given for her when she died, however there is no suggestion that she died in the Poor House, where her husband died 5 years later.
I have yet to find out more about Sarah, including her parents and any siblings she may have had.
